From the video page on YouTube:
Mark Jeffrey is author of “The Pocket and the Pendant,” a novel geared towards young adult readers. Mark self-published the magical realism-themed story in paperback form on Lulu.com, and then followed it up with a free audiobook on Podiobooks.com that he narrated himself. The audiobook became an underground sensation, eventually getting more than 2 million downloads. He’s now leveraged that success into a book deal. The reworked, re-edited book is being published in hardcover form by HarperCollins, to be released May 1, 2011.
In his day job, Mark is CEO of the ThisWeekIn.com live-streaming and podcast network that he started with Jason Calacanis, Kevin Pollak and others.

SYNOPSIS
Vampirism is a newly discovered viral illness whose initial stages spread as quickly as the flu. May has just turned seventeen and has become infected. She is the only vampire in her family and her neighborhood and, as such, her life changes dramatically. In her daily surroundings she is now seen as a monster: kids throw stones at her and she is bullied at work. However, May tries to adapt by following the rules and norms set by the government on infected citizens who wish to fit back into society.
While it definitely looks like they had more than a dollar, it is still a small budgeted independent film that looks awesome to me!

Earlier today George R. R. Martin, author of the “A Song of Fire and Ice” fantasy series, posted this nugget on the Fantasy Faction website forums:
The end is in sight, at long long last, and we’re close enough so that my editors and publishers at Bantam Spectra have set an actual publication date.
A DANCE WITH DRAGONS will be in your favorite bookstore on:
TUESDAY, JULY 12, 2011.
A Dance With Dragons, the long-awaited fifth book in the fantasy series, was made available for pre-order on Amazon.com just a couple of hours later.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Book 4: The Battle of the Labyrinth is a fun read, as are all the Percy Jackson books I\\™ve read, and not as thick and intimidating as the Harry Potter books. A rollicking good yarn, full of all of those things we love in Greek Myths.

Trailer – Game of Thrones
HBO released a new trailer for Game of Thrones. I would love to know how many new subscribers HBO has gotten/will get just for this series (I know I’m one).
Let the game begin! “Game Of Thrones” premieres Sunday, April 17 only on HBO. For more information, go to http://itsh.bo/gHfJPE
Book Trailer – The Lost Gate
Text from the TorForge YouTube page for The Lost Gate:
Danny North knew from early childhood that his family was different, and that he was different from them. While his cousins were learning how to create the things that commoners called fairies, ghosts, golems, trolls, werewolves, and other such miracles that were the heritage of the North family, Danny worried that he would never show a talent, never form an outself.
He grew up in the rambling old house, filled with dozens of cousins, and aunts and uncles, all ruled by his father. Their home was isolated in the mountains of western Virginia, far from town, far from schools, far from other people.
There are many secrets in the House, and many rules that Danny must follow. There is a secret library with only a few dozen books, and none of them in English \\” but Danny and his cousins are expected to become fluent in the language of the books. While Danny’s cousins are free to create magic whenever they like, they must never do it where outsiders might see.
Unfortunately, there are some secrets kept from Danny as well. And that will lead to disaster for the North family.
Movie Trailer – Red State
Red State is Kevin Smith’s latest film, but don’t go looking for laughs with this one. It’s horror, and it looks amazing.

Movie Trailer – Real Steel
This could be the most fun EVER. Or it could be an abomination. Only time will tell. I do know it is somewhat based on a Richard Matheson short story, “Steel,” which was adapted as a Twilight Zone episode by the same name. Something tells me in this movie, Hugh Jackman does not disguise himself as a robot to fight another robot… but who knows?
