Beyond The Wall – Episode 2

Here is “Episode 2” of SpecFicMedia’s launch show, Beyond The Wall – A Game of Thrones Podcast. This podcast will focus on a weekly discussion of the HBO series “Game of Thrones,” with additional discussions of the various media tied to George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series “A Song of Ice and Fire.”

In today’s episode we discuss the second episode (April 24th) of “Game of Thrones.”

Hey, I blasted thru episodes 1 and 2 of your podcast so I could be timely since the 3rd episode aired last night.

Quick comments in no real order: PG Holyfield's favorite Stark house guard is probably Fat Tom from the books, but GRRM has a lot of fat guys in the books. For every Jaime Lannister, there are two Lord Manderlys.

The burning forge thing in the credits is the sun over Westeros in a clockwork mechanism. I know Viv regarded it as anachronistically steampunk, but it reminded me of the Renaissance woodcut of a man peering past the horizon to the gears of the heavens.

There have been small narrative differences, but so far, the similarity of the book to the HBO series is so close, if the book and the series had children, that would be another case of twincest.

I'm pretty happy with the casting, although I prefer my mental image of some characters. They somehow read my mind in casting Bran.

It's exciting to hear your conversation about the episodes and the books. My lovely bride and I are eagerly awaiting Book Five, and I suppose two copies will somehow have to be procured.

Best regards from your biggest fan in my house…

Pat from Maryland (Chooch, Viv, you know me. I'm that Fantastic Foe fella.)

Hey, and this is hardly relevant, but my daughter (who is too young to be watching Game of Thrones) was delighted when I told her that the actors playing two minor characters from the 3rd episode (Lancel and Yoren) were on Nickelodeon's House of Anubis (a show I was recently forced to watch with my wee girl.)

Anyway, thought I'd pass that along.
