I enjoyed the premiere immensely, but I agree with your points about Khal's and Dany's wedding night. The scene in the book was touching; the scene in the show was heartrending. I don't think the revision serves any great purpose. It makes Khal seem like more of a savage.

Great podcast!

I must point out, however, that there has been a general increase of age of all characters by between 2-3 years in the series. So Arya and Joffery has in fact been aged up along with Sansa and Dany, she is 11 instead of 9. And the actress playing Arya is 14, the same age as Sophie Turner, who plays Sansa. So even though she might be flattered to be called 19, Ms. Turner was only 14 when these scenes were filmed (15 now, I believe). She is, however, very tall. http://winter-is-coming.net/features/cast/sophie-

Dany is 16-17 in this version of the story, you might recall Viserys mentioning that he has waited 17 years for his throne, and Dany was born after 8ish months after the old king was killed. This makes everything mesh up, in so far as the entire story has been moved about 3 years forward in time, making all the characters a bit older.

winter-is-coming.net is a great resource for these sort of things,

i think you guys have to take into account that some people watching the show have never read the book so some characters have to be blatant.

Hey, my bride is re-reading Book 1. She remembered the conversation about Ned should have black hair.

Ned had brown hair, like Sean Bean's, in the books.

Just saying…

it's not that Ned should have black hair, it's Robert that needs black hair, but later they state in the show that Robert's bastard has black hair, just like him, so I guess in Westeros that is black hair.
